Intensive Family Support Service
We help children, young people and families who are struggling to manage the challenges of day to life. The families we work with may be affected by a range of issues, including drug and alcohol use. We support children from birth, and work alongside whole families.
Our family workers spend time with children and families in their own homes, at our local spaces or in other community locations.
We offer relationship based support which builds on existing strengths\interests, helping families find their own solutions and make new community connections. This might include: offering practical help with school work; supporting family member(s) to attend meetings when necessary; helping to establish family routines and boundaries; building life skills such as healthy eating and cooking on a budget; encouraging participation in Parent and Toddler groups; Book bug activities.
Families2Gether
Working in partnership with Dumfries Prison and D&G Alcohol and Drugs Partnership we work with family members who are serving prison sentences of less than four years, those on remand, and those on a Home Detention Curfew. Support is offered from 12 weeks prior to their release and during the first six months after release. This helps ease the crucial process of integrating back into the family home.
Smarter2Gether
We work closely with schools to help children and young people who may be anxious about attending school or have a range of different challenges in school. Our aim is to provide a scaffolding of support which allows children and young people to build confidence, enjoy learning and participate in all aspects of life at home, at school and in the community.
