Birchvale Players [Dalbeattie]

Last updated: 22/08/2019

The Birchvale Theatre is a small community venue providing a local hub for drama, film, and entertainment in Dalbeattie and the surrounding area.

It is the home of The Birchvale Players who originally developed the space in 1976, having been in existence since the 1930’s. But increasingly it is used by other touring professional and amateur groups looking for a small welcoming place to entertain people.

As well as theatrical activities we have a cinema which screens 24 films a year and is also available to hire.

We also have a thriving youth theatre programme and an adult theatre group, who both put on productions throughout the year.

The venue can be booked for events, meetings and functions.

Our project to take ownership of the former St Peters School in Dalbeattie. In short, our aim is to provide a purpose-built theatre and to provide other spaces for a variety of community groups, two of which (Dalbeattie Playgroup and Dalbeattie Scout Group) will be permanent tenants.

The group are always looking for budding new members, if you would like to act, design and create set or just help volunteer please contact us.
