Description

To recognise, preserve and celebrate the traidition of Riding the Marches in the Royal burgh of Wigtown, and to educate each generation about the history and tradition associated with the event.  In furthernace of these objects, the organisation shall:

  • Arrange the annual Riding of the Marches in the Royal Burgh of Wigtown on a date near mid-summer; see that the event is conducted safely, and in a way that encourages responsible participation and civic pride, and places value and importance on volunteering;
  • Encourage participation by other community groups as part of a wider celebration that strengthens the community and welcomes visitors.

Organisation set up this year (2016), recognised as a SCIO, Riding of the Marches restored (had last been done in 1965) in 2015 and again in 2016.
