Assemble at Ian Smith’s field at 1840hrs (all riders)
Assemble at Drill Hall, Dee Walk at 1855hrs (all lead reins)
At 1845hrs, all riders will leave the field as a stewarded ride and turn left out of the field on to St Mary Street until reaching Dee Walk. Collect the lead reins from Dee Walk at 18:55hrs and continue along St. Mary Street, right into St Cuthbert Street to the Castle, left into Castle Street, stopping outside the Masonic Arms for stirrup cup. The Courier will meet the cavalcade at this point.
The cavalcade will move along Castle Street, turning right into High Street, passing the Tolbooth, crossing the pavement area into St Mary's Wynd, riding along same continuing straight across Castledykes Road and along Longacre Road, turn left onto Dunbar Avenue. Turn left onto Great Cross Road and next left down The Crofts. At the end of The Crofts a short stop at Schools Close for the Principals to meet the Residents of Schools Close. Principals rejoin the ride and turn right into Longacre Road and right into Castledykes Road, right at the main road and left into Selkirk Road, along Selkirk Road, up Rossway Hill, along Rossway Road and Woodlands Avenue, turning left down Barrhill to the Townend, right along Townend and Millburn Street and left into St Cuthbert Street. Move off across St Mary Street, into St Cuthbert Street, right past the Steam Packet to Beaconsfield Place, turn left across the bridge to the Old Folks Home, at Merse House. Return by the same route from Merse House, back across the bridge, into Bridge Street, left into St. Mary Street and continue along Victoria Park, turning right into Burnside Loaning, right again into Stirling
Acres Road, proceeding down into Millflats, to Jubilee Place, turning left into St Mary Street. Carry on along St Mary Street, turning right into Bridge Street and left into Beaconsfield Place, along past the Steam Packet, left into St Cuthbert Street, stopping at the Kirkcudbright Bay for stirrup cup. Move off across St Mary Street up St Cuthbert Street, left into St Cuthbert Road and right into Silvercraigs Road. Down the Barrhill to the junction of St Mary Street, across into High Street and stop just past the Selkirk Arms at the "Meikle Yett" to receive Earth and Stone, from the Deacon, there will also be a stirrup cup. Proceed up High Street into Old High Street and stop at the "Water Yett" and receive Earth and Stone
from the Deacon there. Continue round past the War Memorial stopping opposite the Co-op where Cornet and Lass dismount for the wreath laying ceremony.
When ceremony is complete and the principles are mounted the cavalcade move into Harbour Square where the Charter Ceremony will take place. Thereafter the cavalcade will make their way back to the field as a stewarded ride. |
